Betta — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 November 2026 (the recovery code is now called a save code; see also our Terms of Use)
Betta (“Betta Fish: Breed & Battle”, “the App”, “we”, “us”) is a game about
breeding, raising and battling Thai betta fish (ปลากัด). This policy explains what
information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Anonymous guest account. When you first play, we create an
anonymous account identified by a random ID. You do not give us an email,
phone number or real name to play.
- Save code. The App makes a save code for your game (you can see it in Settings), like a
password for your own saved game: it lets you move your game to another phone with Settings → LOAD MY GAME. The code is turned into a
sign-in for your guest account; we store only a scrambled (hashed) form of it, never your
email, phone number or any contact detail. Making a new code cancels the old one.
- Names you choose. The player name and the names you give your fish.
Your player name, your main fish and its name can be seen by other players on the
online arena ladder, and next to a fish you release into the shared pond. On the ladder your name
can carry a small flag of the country your phone's region is set to (we read the phone's setting,
never its location); if you would rather not show it, contact us and we will hide it.
Please use a nickname, not your real name. Names other players can see are checked
automatically, and rude or unkind words are refused.
- Gameplay data. Your fish (their genes and looks), coins, pearls,
items, tank decorations, breeding, fights, quests and season progress, and fish you
release or adopt in the shared pond. This is stored on our server so your game is
saved, breeding is fair, and fight results can be checked as believable.
- Usage data. Simple, first-party records of how the App is used —
for example when a session starts and ends, which screens are opened and for how
long, and which features are used — together with the App version, the platform
(iOS or Android) and the game language. We use this only to understand what players
enjoy and to fix problems. It contains no advertising identifier and no device
identifier, and it is never used to track you across other apps or websites.
- Purchases (optional). The App offers an optional Betta Club membership
(monthly or yearly) and a one-time No Videos Forever pack. Payment is handled entirely by the
App Store or Google Play: we never see your card or bank details, your name or your email. When you
buy, the store gives the App a purchase reference, and our server asks Apple or Google directly
what it is for and whether it is active. We keep a record of the product, its status, its renewal
or end date and the store's reference, linked to your game account's random ID, so your membership
works, can be restored on a new phone, and is ended if it is cancelled or refunded. We also record in
our usage data that a purchase was made (which product), to understand which options players choose.
- Messages you send us (optional). If you use Contact us in the App, we receive the topic
you pick, your message, your game account's random ID, the App version, platform and language, and an email
address only if you choose to type one. We use them only to answer you (usually by a letter in the game's inbox,
or by email if you gave one) and to fix problems. To stop spam, we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of the network
address a message came from, never the address itself. You can ask us to delete your messages at any time.
What we do not collect: your real name, email (unless you type one into Contact us), contacts,
photos, payment details or precise location. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Our web pages. The App itself does not use Google Analytics. Our Betta web pages on
lueondee.com (the home page, the season ladder and the get-the-app page) use Google Analytics
to count visits and which buttons are pressed, for example the Google Play button or a share button, so we know
how people find Betta. It uses first-party cookies, receives no player names (a name typed into the ladder's
search box is never sent), and is set up with Google signals and ad personalization turned off, so it is not
used for advertising or to follow you across other websites.
2. Optional reward videos
Some buttons (for example +1 FREE or HEAL) let a player choose to watch a
short video in return for a treat or healing. These are the only ads in the App, they are never
forced, and they are served by Google AdMob. Because Betta is made for families,
every ad request is marked as child-directed: ads are not
personalized, are limited to content suitable for all ages (rated G), and the App does not
ask to track you. To deliver, limit and measure these ads and to prevent fraud, Google may process
technical information such as the device’s IP address and basic device data; see
how Google uses information from
apps that use its services. When a video has been watched to the end, Google may send our
server a signed confirmation that names your game account (its random ID) so the reward goes to
the right player and cannot be faked.
3. Notifications
If you allow notifications, the App schedules local reminders on your own
device — for example when your eggs hatch, your fish is hungry or its water needs
changing. These are created on the device; we do not send them from a server, and you
can turn them off in the App’s Settings or your phone’s settings at any time.
4. How we use information
- To run the game, save your progress, and show the arena ladder and the shared pond.
- To decide breeding results on our server, and to check that fight results are believable, so the game stays fair.
- To prevent cheating and abuse.
- To fix problems and improve the App.
5. Service providers
- Supabase — our backend: database, anonymous sign-in and hosting
(servers in Singapore).
- Google AdMob — the optional reward videos (child-directed, non-personalized).
- Apple / Google: app distribution, and payment for the optional purchases.
We do not sell your information or share it for personalized advertising.
6. Data retention & deletion
We keep your account and gameplay data while your account is active. You can delete your
account and all its data at any time inside the App: Settings → Delete my account.
Deletion is immediate and permanent: your fish, progress, usage records and save code are removed
from our server. You can also ask us by email — see
how to delete your account. Fish you released into
the shared pond may remain there without your name. A record of a purchase (product, dates and the
store's reference) is kept without your account, as long as the stores may still report a refund. Deleting
your account does not cancel a membership: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account.
7. Children
Betta is a game suitable for children. We do not ask for or knowingly collect personal
information such as a real name, email or location. The only text other players can see
is the nickname and fish names a player types; please help children choose a nickname.
If you believe a child has entered personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Purchases are optional and are approved through the store account; parents can require approval with
Apple's Ask to Buy or Google Play's purchase approvals. Paying never makes a fish stronger.
8. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with access rules that let
each player read only their own private data. No method of transmission or storage is
100% secure.
9. International users
Data may be processed in countries other than your own, including Singapore.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Changes will be shown by the “Last updated” date above.
